Description
Article in the student newspaper Daily Targum reporting about a candlelight vigil held as part of the on-going anti-apartheid divestment protests on campus, which were organized by the Rutgers Coalition for Total Divestment (RCTD) in April 1985. The article features a photograph of student protesters by staff photographer Ted Cohen. Caption below the photograph reads: "Seventy members of various campus religious organizations held a candlelight prayer vigil Wednesday night to protest South Africa's apartheid regime. The vigil was held in front of the College Avenue Gym, next door to the Mandela Center, where the divestment sit-in continued." (During the protests, activists occupied the student center on College Avenue and called it the Nelson Mandela Center.)
