Photograph of John T. Chandler in Rutgers football uniform

Photograph of John Thomas "Pomp" Chandler (RC 1937) practicing football during his time at Rutgers, where Chandler was a star athlete on the 150-pound football (or "lightweight football") team. The photograph was reprinted in a magazine after his death in 1978, and this clipping was preserved in Chandler's alumni biographical file. The caption below the photograph reads "John Chandler, as he appeared over 40 years ago as a member of the Rutgers football team." While the exact source of this clipping is unclear, it likely appeared in the Rutgers Alumni Monthly. The clipping is attached to a short memo from Warren Glaser (RC 1936). The memo reads, "Barbara — Perhaps you can get a pix of Chandler to illustrate the column. Warren." A stamp on the memo indicates that it was "Received at RAM Office May 18 1979."
