Description
Drawing printed in November 1926 in the Chanticleer, a humor magazine produced by Rutgers students. The image depicts a black character holding an axe and dragging a rooster by the neck. This image served as the header for a recurring feature called "Rooster Eggs" that collected one-liner jokes. The title "Rooster Eggs," as well as the name of the magazine, allude to the old Rutgers mascot: a medieval fighting rooster character called Chanticleer.
The author of the drawing is Frank S. Amon, Rutgers class of 1927.
